Changes

So lots of changes in our lives these last few months. It's been an absolutely crazy summer! Originally, we were set to move to VA for Austin to attend William and Mary Law School. While we were waiting to hear back about a job for me, we decided to move into my mom's house since they are traveling so much. In June, Austin sadly had to tell W & M that I wasn't able to find a job and that we would be attending SMU. Well, August 1st I received an email from a school in Williamsburg saying I got a job. Unfortunately, after speaking with the dean at W & M and trying to get us re-admitted, she said they were over-enrolled and unable to accept Austin back into the program. Disappointing to say the least, but we have both been very prayerful about all of this and know it was meant to be. Austin started school last week and I've probably seen him a total of 20 hrs. He always studies, never sleeps, and has a to-do list a mile long. Poor guy! It'll be over before you know it. So proud of you Austin! I started school last Wednesday and I am so happy to say that I LOVE my kids. It is so refreshing after the year I had last year. Let's just hope those sweet personalities and hardworking attitudes continue. I am so thankful for how God has shown His faithfulness to us through all of this. While we wanted a fresh start in VA, we know that Texas is where are friends and family are and I truly think I am meant to teach these 8th graders this year. Looking forward to all of the wonderful opportunities to come at DZ and at SMU. Go Hawks and Go Mustangs! (Don't worry, I'm still a Bear for life! Just trying to be a supportive wife)

Happy 1st Day of Law School. So studious!

Where is the summer going?

I can't believe it's already July?!?! Where is the summer going and more importantly what they heck have I been doing this whole time? I realized I'm very behind on blogging so here is a recap of my June.

Totally photo bombed someone's wedding set-up at Arboretum

Then I turned 29! Had my birthday party at Family Karaoke

"I don't want no scrubs. A scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me..."

Jared serenading his lovely wife

The party planner. Great job!

"That thong, thong, thong, thong, THONG!"

Us Shavers take karaoke very seriously

Jenna and Stacey's face is saying "I know you are singing a power ballad Paige, but why is there a Korean woman crying over her husband's body whose just been shot?" The images on the screen don't exactly match the songs. AWESOME!

Then it was off to Cancun for Josh and Solange's wedding

Then I went on a girl's trip to Santa Fe

Hiking the day before the big fires

FIRE!!!

That takes us to July. Sweet Campbell turned 1. Big girl!

My 4th of July dessert. Thanks Pinterest for the idea (and for stealing all of my time)

Watching fireworks

And the summer continues! One month and 5 days before I have to report back to school. Here's to being productive (or just laying out). Happy summer everyone!

All Aboard!

Last weekend, we finished celebrating Austin's 30th birthday (this kid had the longest bday celebration ever) with a trolley crawl on McKinney Ave. First a surprise Vegas trip, then a surprise "booze trolley". (Mike coined the term because "booze cruise" doesn't quite fit) What a blast!

Here are the koozies I had made. Yes, that ridiculous picture is real. It was taken for their 21st birthday and I just had to re-use it for their 30th. They have been celebrating their birthdays together since I can remember.

My sweet friends, Jenny and Caroline
Our travel buddies, The Loves and The Gipsons (missed you Gwen)

Birthday boy hoppin' back on the trolley

Hold on!

We'll use this for their 40th birthday koozies

Thanks for a great ride Guy the Trolley Guy

Headed over to the Gingerman afterwards

At the end of the night, we stayed at the amazing Hotel Zaza and then had breakfast the next day at our fav spot, Lucky's Diner on Oaklawn.

The month of April was so much fun! Don't know if May can top it. Looking forward to celebrating school being over, Stacey's baby girl, the season premiere of SYTYCD and the start of Cool Thursday concerts at the Arboreteum again. Woo hoo! I love this time of year!

My Hero

A face only a mother could love

Many of you have met my crazy dog Harley. I got him at Petsmart for a whopping $25. 5 years later he has cost me thousands of dollars in vet bills, ruined shoes, pet deposits, and of course medical bills in the infamous "biting the kid's butt" incident. Well, now all I can say is "thank God for Harley".

Harley stayed at my parents Saturday night while we were celebrating Austin's bday. Harley started going crazy in the middle of the night crying and barking and, in the word's of my mother, she was ready to "kill that dog". She went to let him out and didn't find him standing near the door and followed his cries and barks to the bathroom where she found Harley standing over my dad who collapsed on the bathroom floor.

Bob is currently in the hospital and we are hoping to have him home tomorrow. He has a lung infection and there are some heart concerns but the doctor said he should recover soon. People always give me such a hard time about this dog, but it is so incredible how intuitive and protective Harley can be. Harley was at the right place at the right time. My little Lassie! This little guy gets an ice cream cone!

Prayers for Bob please! We'll take all we can get. So thankful for God's healing power and for man's best friend.

Vegas Baby!

This past weekend, Megan and I surprised Bobby and Austin with a quick weekend getaway to VEGAS BABY! Thursday night we took the guys to dinner at Taco Diner just to "hang out and catch up". Little did they know we were about to surprise them with their 30th birthday present. I made these fake plane tickets and handed them to the guys. It took them a second to realize they were going to the real Las Vegas and not some Vegas themed party. I did it! I kept a secret for a whole year! Phew.

They were so shocked!

Time to go home and pack...quickly

Day one: Drinks in the Palazzo

Beatles Love

Dinner at Stack

Saturday: Birthday dinner at Lavo

Celebrating Bobby's bday at midnight

My only celeb sighting but it was a good one...PEREZ HILTON!

Sunday: Easter dinner with friends and family

Campbell and AP

The birthday boys with the crazy rifle lighter

The gang

It was a whirlwind trip but we had such an amazing time! Now to celebrate Austin's birthday this Wednesday and then their actual birthday party on Saturday. Can't wait!
