Officially the Worst Blogger Ever: My Year in Review

Yep. There is no denying it. I am the WORST blogger ever! Anyone else sick of seeing Austin first day of school picture? :) He finally begged me to update. I figured since it was summer and all I do is sleep in and lay out, the least I could do was type a few words. (It really goes against my zero work policy over the summer though). So much has gone on in the last 11 months so allow me to quickly update you.

September 2011:

  • Austin is in full swing in law school, aka non-existent, so I decided to spend my time training for a half marathon. (Don't get too proud of me. See November for the results) :(

  • We hit up our fourth annual Octoberfest.

October 2011: Thus began my cooking/baking obsession! Thanks to pinterest, every night's dinner was a new creation and Austin's law school buddies become my guinea pigs for all my new creations. They never complained. Actually, they kept making request.

November 2011:

  • Hurt my knee on one of my last runs before the big half. I had to drop out of the race. I've never felt so proud of myself and have never been in that great of shape. Maybe next year!

  • Went to Penn State to support Joe Pa and watch the Nittany Lions.

December 2011: Busy month!

  • First was our Pinterest Party. Every girl brought a food creation from pinterest as well as crafts for the other girls. What a blast! Can't wait for this year's party!

  • Then, I had surgery to remove my plate from when I broke my arm the last Christmas. The plus side? My creative, third grade teaching mother concocted a new ornament out of my plate. Oooh shiny!

  • Then, we went to San Antonio to watch RGIII and the Bears dominate in the Alamo Bowl! Sic 'Em!

January 2012:

  • New Year's with the Chambers is never dull!

  • Austin bought me a camera for Christmas and decided I needed to take a photo course. Not any course, but a COLLEGE COURSE AT NORTHLAKE. Can you detect the frustration in my voice? I'm not creative nor do I care about minor details so this course was a love/hate relationship. In the end, SIXTEEN PROJECTS LATER, I found a new appreciation for photography and I improved...slightly. I will NOT be taking Photo II.

February 2012: Austin is officially OVER law school. Harley is pretty over it too!

March 2012: I was elected to be an officer of the Baylor's Women's Network. Baylor Christmas Party, watch out! Paige is in charge and she LOVES Christmas! Here I am with Jenna and Becky at Baylor's Going for the Gold Gala.

April 2012: My best friend Emily came in town from Hawaii so we could shower her and her baby boy.

May 2012: I GOT A NEW JOB!!! I have loved teaching at De Zavala in Irving for the past four years but felt the urge to make a move. I love Frisco and can't wait to start this fall at Vandeventer. Yep, that is the real name my cheerleaders will have to yell. Here is my school still being built. Fingers crossed it is done by August!

I'm going to miss my sweet DZ kids. :(

  • Took a trampoline class with Hollis! Always a good time.

June 2012:

  • I turned the big 3-0.  Austin threw me a party at Taco Diner including my favorite cake from The Cake Guys and then took me to Fredricksburg for some wine and relaxation. And a little peach pickin' when Austin was sleeping.

  • We also went to Aspen to celebrate Bobby and Megan's wedding. So beautiful!

  • Austin started his new fancy internship. Fancy because he gets paid! Yea!  Fingers crossed it turns into a future job.

July 2012:

  • Spent the fourth in our usual spot...in our secret parking garage watching Kaboomtown fireworks.

  • My adorable niece, Campbell, turned 2! Big girl!

  • Taught cheerleading camp to precious 4-10 year olds. I'm so used to my 8th graders so this age group was eye opening!

Coming up: more Campbell time, lots of training for my new school, a trip to San Francisco, Miss Abby Chambers turns 1, and the Bachelorette finale. Woo hoo! I love summer.

Yea Paige!!!! One thing marked off my checklist. 50 more to go. Hopefully my next blogpost won't be Austin graduating from law school or me and my 2 kids. I'll try to be better!!!

Changes

So lots of changes in our lives these last few months. It's been an absolutely crazy summer! Originally, we were set to move to VA for Austin to attend William and Mary Law School. While we were waiting to hear back about a job for me, we decided to move into my mom's house since they are traveling so much. In June, Austin sadly had to tell W & M that I wasn't able to find a job and that we would be attending SMU. Well, August 1st I received an email from a school in Williamsburg saying I got a job. Unfortunately, after speaking with the dean at W & M and trying to get us re-admitted, she said they were over-enrolled and unable to accept Austin back into the program. Disappointing to say the least, but we have both been very prayerful about all of this and know it was meant to be. Austin started school last week and I've probably seen him a total of 20 hrs. He always studies, never sleeps, and has a to-do list a mile long. Poor guy! It'll be over before you know it. So proud of you Austin! I started school last Wednesday and I am so happy to say that I LOVE my kids. It is so refreshing after the year I had last year. Let's just hope those sweet personalities and hardworking attitudes continue. I am so thankful for how God has shown His faithfulness to us through all of this. While we wanted a fresh start in VA, we know that Texas is where are friends and family are and I truly think I am meant to teach these 8th graders this year. Looking forward to all of the wonderful opportunities to come at DZ and at SMU. Go Hawks and Go Mustangs! (Don't worry, I'm still a Bear for life! Just trying to be a supportive wife)

Happy 1st Day of Law School. So studious!

Where is the summer going?

I can't believe it's already July?!?! Where is the summer going and more importantly what they heck have I been doing this whole time? I realized I'm very behind on blogging so here is a recap of my June.

Totally photo bombed someone's wedding set-up at Arboretum

Then I turned 29! Had my birthday party at Family Karaoke

"I don't want no scrubs. A scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me..."

Jared serenading his lovely wife

The party planner. Great job!

"That thong, thong, thong, thong, THONG!"

Us Shavers take karaoke very seriously

Jenna and Stacey's face is saying "I know you are singing a power ballad Paige, but why is there a Korean woman crying over her husband's body whose just been shot?" The images on the screen don't exactly match the songs. AWESOME!

Then it was off to Cancun for Josh and Solange's wedding

Then I went on a girl's trip to Santa Fe

Hiking the day before the big fires

FIRE!!!

That takes us to July. Sweet Campbell turned 1. Big girl!

My 4th of July dessert. Thanks Pinterest for the idea (and for stealing all of my time)

Watching fireworks

And the summer continues! One month and 5 days before I have to report back to school. Here's to being productive (or just laying out). Happy summer everyone!

All Aboard!

Last weekend, we finished celebrating Austin's 30th birthday (this kid had the longest bday celebration ever) with a trolley crawl on McKinney Ave. First a surprise Vegas trip, then a surprise "booze trolley". (Mike coined the term because "booze cruise" doesn't quite fit) What a blast!

Here are the koozies I had made. Yes, that ridiculous picture is real. It was taken for their 21st birthday and I just had to re-use it for their 30th. They have been celebrating their birthdays together since I can remember.

My sweet friends, Jenny and Caroline
Our travel buddies, The Loves and The Gipsons (missed you Gwen)

Birthday boy hoppin' back on the trolley

Hold on!

We'll use this for their 40th birthday koozies

Thanks for a great ride Guy the Trolley Guy

Headed over to the Gingerman afterwards

At the end of the night, we stayed at the amazing Hotel Zaza and then had breakfast the next day at our fav spot, Lucky's Diner on Oaklawn.

The month of April was so much fun! Don't know if May can top it. Looking forward to celebrating school being over, Stacey's baby girl, the season premiere of SYTYCD and the start of Cool Thursday concerts at the Arboreteum again. Woo hoo! I love this time of year!
